I'm proud of this little project. A documenatry (or pockumentary as we call it) entitled "BONNINGTON TRUCE: AN ALTERNATIVE HISTORY OF MISSISSIPPI" has been made and released about the band Bonnington Truce, which I was in when I was but a wee lad. This band created and performed what it called "pock music," which basically was a blend of rock, pop and punk, and pretty much anything we wanted to do at the time. We called ourseves a "southern pock combo" and flourished for a few years, creating a pretty vibrant pock scene, within a very inhospitable environment in the deep south of the US in the early 1980s. Saturday, April 5th, 2008, the film will be screened at the Crossroads Film Festival in Jackson, MS, and after the screening there will be a reunion and one time live performance by Bonnington Truce. We are both excited and nervous at the prospect, as so many years have slid between then and now and we have not played together in those intervening years.
For any with an interest in this project, the pockumentary has just been released in a DVD/CD combo that includes the film and bonus features on the DVD, and an audio CD that contains 24 remastered original songs from and by Bonnington Truce. One thing I liked about that band was its creativity and independent spirit; we had three songwriters in the band, of which I was one. I really am personally thankful that this project snatched from the hands of confident obscurity and oblivion some record of this time in my life and the music and spirit created by this band long ago and far away. I haven't been very active here lately, but wanted to share this news so that any who had the slightest interest could at least know of the existence of this unique project.
peace,
Patrick
